Message Two Continuing Steadfastly in the Apostles' Teaching concerning the Full Ministry of Christ in Three Stages
I. "How the Lord's recovery will be and how it will go on depend upon how we handle this teaching" (spoken by Brother Lee on October 7, 1996 concerning the teaching of the full ministry of Christ in three stages).
II. "The co-workers and the elders, who take the lead in the Lord's recovery, must realize that the Lord's recovery is resting upon their shoulders. What the recovery will be depends upon what they will be. I am heavily burdened about this. Since this is my burden, I cannot give you ordinary teachings. Instead, I must present something particular" (The Divine and Mystical Realm, p. 24)
III. The apostles' teaching (Acts 2:42) is the unique teaching of God's New Testament economy (1 Tim. 1:3-4) concerning the full ministry of Christ in three stages:
A. In the first stage of incarnation, the stage of Christ in the flesh, Christ produced a group of redeemed persons.
B. In the second stage of inclusion, the stage of Christ as the life-giving Spirit, Christ produced the church.
C. In the third stage of intensification, the stage of Christ as the sevenfold intensified life-giving Spirit, Christ produces the overcomers to build up the Body, which consummates in the New Jerusalem as the unique goal of God's economy.
D. All the co-workers in the Lord's recovery need to do a work of three sections:
1. We should not only be able to do the work of the first section, the section of incarnation, to produce redeemed people, but we should also be able to do a work that can serve the purpose of the second section, the section of inclusion, to produce churches.
2. Furthermore, we should be able to do a work to produce the overcomers to build up the Body of Christ, consummating the New Jerusalem.
3. "I would urge you to consider this matter of intensification and to pray desperately, saying, 'Lord I must advance. I need Your grace to bring me onward. I do not want to remain in the work of incarnation nor even in the work of inclusion. I want to advance from inclusion to intensification. Lord, You have been intensified sevenfold, and I pray that I also will be intensified sevenfold to overcome the degradation of the church that the Body may be built up to consummate the New Jerusalem'" (Incarnation, Inclusion, and Intensification, p. 22)
IV. We have to beware of winds of teaching, teachings which are different from the teaching of God's New Testament economy:
A. The different teachings of the dissenting ones are winds used by God's enemy to distract His people and carry them away from His economy—Eph. 4:14.
B. The dividing teachings are organized and systematized by Satan to cause serious error and thus damage the practical oneness of the Body life.
C. The different teachings are major sources of the church's decline, degradation, and deterioration—1 Tim. 1:3-4; Acts 20:29-30; 2 Tim. 1:15; Rev. 2:4; 3:16, 20.
C. "Some have said, 'We don't need the Life-studies or the notes of the Recovery Version. We can read the pure Word of God.' We absolutely need the pure Word of God, but we also need the proper exposition of the Word. How could we have understood the book of Leviticus without the proper exposition? We could read Leviticus again and again without understanding much of it. Peter's vision in Acts 10 was an expounding of Leviticus. Paul also expounded the book of Leviticus in Hebrews. Throughout the centuries of church history, certain brothers have been raised up to expound Leviticus. Today we are 'standing on their shoulders' to inherit all of their findings and understanding. By the Lord's mercy, standing upon their shoulders, we have also seen something further. What we have seen is in today's Life-study of Leviticus. To say that we do not need such an exposition of the holy Word is a strong wind of teaching blowing the saints away from the central lane of God's economy." (The Organic Building Up of the Church as the Body of Christ to Be the Organism of the Processed and Dispensing Triune God, pp. 79-80).
D. We must be constituted with the teaching of the proper ministry, the New Testament ministry, which is according to the apostles' teaching, the teaching of God's New Testament economy, for the building up of the Body of Christ to consummate the New Jerusalem.
E. Teaching creates fellowship; if we teach wrongly and differently from the apostles' teaching, our teaching will produce a sectarian, divisive fellowship.
F. We should learn from the hidden, divisive factors of the past:
1. One of these hidden things was the intention to do an extra work in the unique work of the Lord's recovery.
2. Another hidden divisive work is the tendency to keep separate territories.
3. In the past there was the hidden factor of working in a way of not having one's work mingled with others' work.
4. There was also the hidden expectation of being a prominent figure in the Lord's work.
5. Another great divisive factor in the past has been the negligence regarding the keeping of the one accord in the Lord's recovery.
V. We must continue steadfastly in the holding factor of the one accord, the teaching of the apostles:
A. The teaching of the apostles actually is the real leadership in the New Testament; this is the leadership of one controlling revelation in the one ministry through those who bring in the revelation of the ministry.
B. The direction of the Lord's move according to this controlling revelation is:
1. To build up the organic Body of Christ as the organism of the processed and dispensing God in His Divine Trinity for His full expression.
2. To prepare the bride as the counterpart of the Bridegroom for the eternal marriage of the redeeming God with His redeemed.
3. To bring in the kingdom of God as the spreading of the divine life for God's eternal administration in the fulfillment of His eternal economy.
