Message Four The Consummation of the Golden Lampstand— the New Jerusalem as the Consummation of God’s Building
I. The holy city, New Jerusalem, as the aggregate of all the lampstands is the unique, ultimate, and eternal golden lampstand expressed in the universe in eternity:
A. At the beginning of Revelation there are seven golden lampstands as the lampstands in the localities in this age—Rev. 1:12, 20; 2:1.
B. At the end of Revelation there is one collective, aggregate lampstand as the unique golden lampstand in the universe in eternity—Rev. 21:2, 10-23; 22:1-2.
C. The lampstands are a sign of the churches, and the New Jerusalem is a sign of God’s eternal dwelling place and Christ’s wife, His eternal counterpart.
II. The New Jerusalem as the consummated golden lampstand is the union, mingling, and incorporation of all the redeemed, regenerated, transformed, and glorified tripartite men with the processed and consummated Triune God:
A. The New Jerusalem is a golden mountain, signifying that the ultimate, unique, and eternal golden lampstand is altogether built with the divine nature—Rev. 21:18b; cf. 1 Cor. 3:10-12.
B. The foundations, the wall, and the gates of the New Jerusalem are built with precious stones and pearls (Rev. 21:18a, 19-20, 21a) signifying that the God-men regenerated, sanctified, renewed, transformed, conformed, and glorified by the Spirit are the main constituents of the city as the organic building for God’s eternal enlargement and expression.
III. The New Jerusalem as the consummated golden lampstand is a great diffuser to shine forth the glory of God and thereby express the processed and consummated Triune God in eternity—Rev. 21:23-24a:
A. The city has no need of the sun or of the moon that they should shine in it, for the glory of God illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb—v. 23.
B. The glory of God as the light of the divine life shines over the city, and the Lamb as the lamp shines forth the glory of the divine light through the transparent city.
C. The glory of God as the light is in the redeeming Lamb as the lamp shining through the entire city of the New Jerusalem as the light’s diffuser; this indicates that the Triune God is one with His redeemed in His expression—cf. John 14:20.
IV. The New Jerusalem as the consummated golden lampstand is a city of water of life—Rev. 22:1:
A. The water of life proceeds out of the throne of the redeeming God for the supply of life and the dispensing of God’s all-sufficient grace.
B. The consummated, all-inclusive, life-giving, and dispensing Spirit as the consummation of the Triune God saturates and satisfies the entire city—John 4:14b; 7:38-39; Phil. 1:19.
C. On the two sides of the river is the tree of life—Rev. 22:2:
1. The tree signifies Christ, the embodiment of the Triune God, as the divine life.
2. The tree grows on the two sides of the flow of the Triune God as the available life supply to be the eternal portion of all the redeemed people of God—Rev. 22:14, 19.
