Message Two God's New Testament Economy to Propagate the Resurrected Christ to Form the Body of Christ for the Expression of the Triune God
I. The recovery is the Lord's up-to-date move for the carrying out of His New Testament economy:
A. The words recovery and economy refer to one thing as seen from two viewpoints:
1. With God, it is a matter of economy.
2. With us, it is a matter of recovery.
B. What is being recovered today is God's economy—1 Tim. 1:4; Eph. 3:9:
1. God's economy was unveiled thorugh the apostles—Eph. 3:2, 9.
2. Because the believers lost the proper understanding of God's economy, there is the need for it to be recovered.
C. God's economy is the key to the Bible—the central line of the divine revelation in the Scriptures.
D. God's central work in His economy is to work Himself in Christ into His chosen people, making Himself one with them—Eph. 3:14-19.
E. The Lord's recovery is also to recover the oneness of the Body—Eph. 4:3-4; John 17:22:
1. In the recovery we must see the universal Body and do everything in the limitation, the regulation, of the one Body.
2. We all need to learn how to practice the Lord's recovery of the one Body.
II. We need to see the vision concerning God's New Testament economy—Eph. 1:10; 3:9; 1 Tim. 1:4:
A. God's economy is His plan to dispense Himself into His chosen, predestinated, and redeemed people as their life, their life supply, and their everything to produce, constitute, and build up the organic Body of Christ—Eph. 4:4-6.
B. God's economy is to make man the same as He is in life and nature but not in the Godhead and to make Himself one with man and man one with Him, thus to be enlarged and expanded in His expression, that all His divine attributes may be expressed in human virtues—John 1:12-13; 2 Pet. 1:4; 2 Cor. 3:18.
C. God's economy is to have God and man incorporated into an incorporation—the enlarged, universal divine-human incorporation— which is first the Body of Christ and then the New Jerusalem—John 14:16-20; 1 Cor. 12:12; Rev. 21:2, 10.
D. God's New Testament economy is to propagate the resurrected Christ and to impart this Christ into the believers so that they may be living members to form Christ's Body to express the Triune God—Acts 1:8, 22; 4:33; 13:33-34:
1. God's New Testament economy is to propagate the processed Triune God in the person of the all-inclusive, resurrected Christ—Matt. 28:18-20.
2. Only the propagation of the resurrected Christ is the answer to the pitiful situation on the earth today—Mark 16:15, 19-20.
3. What is needed is for us to allow God to carry out His New Testament economy in propagating the resurrected Christ—John 20:21b; 17:18.
4. The accomplishment of the divine economy involved Christ's incarnation, human living, death, resurrection, and ascension so that He might propagate Himself by imparting Himself ito His chosen people:
a. In this way God's people become His sons and the members of Christ to be a corporate body to express Him—Rom. 8:16, 14; 12:4-5.
b. The expression of Christ is in the local churches in this age and will be in the New Jerusalem in eternity—Acts 8:1; 13:1; Rev. 1:11; 22:16a; 21:2, 10-11.
III. The crucial focus of God's New Testament economy is the all-inclusive Christ as our life, our person, and our everything—Col. 3:4, 10-11:
A. The divine economy is not focused on any law, regulation, teaching, or practice.
B. The divine economy is focused on the wonderful, all-inclusive Christ:
1. Christ is the embodiment of the processed Triune God—Col. 2:9.
2. Christ is realized as the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit—1 Cor. 15:45b; 2 Cor. 3:17.
C. The all-inclusive Christ is the centrality and universality of God's economy:
1. Christ is God's Anointed—Matt. 16:16; John 1:41; 20:31:
a. Christ is the One appointed by God to accomplish His purpose.
b. Christ is the One commissioned by God to carry out the desire of His heart.
2. Christ's being all-inclusive means that He is the reality of God, of man, and of every positive thing in the universe—John 14:6; 16:13-14; Col. 2:17.
3. As the centrality Christ is the center, and as the universality Christ is the circumference.
4. God's economy is an eternal plan made by God in Christ—Eph. 3:11:
a. Christ is the element, sphere, means, goal, and aim of God's eternal economy.
b. All the contents of God's eternal economy are Christ as the embodiment of the Triune God and the processes through which He has passed.
c. Christ is everything in God's economy.
IV. God's economy is carried out by the divine dispensing of the Divine Trinity—Eph. 1:4-5, 7-10, 13:
A. The economy of God is His plan and arrangement according to His desire and purpose.
B. The dispensing of God is His dispensing and distributing of Himself according to His plan and arrangement.
C. God desires to dispense Himself into His chosen, redeemed, and regenerated people as their life, their life supply, and their everything, making Himself one with them.
V. God's economy has become the stewardship given to the apostles and to all the believers—Eph. 3:2; Col. 1:25; 1 Cor. 9:17:
A. God's stewardship in His economy is the dispensing of the processed and consummated Triune God in Christ into His chosen, redeemed, and regenerated people that He may be their life and everything to produce the unique Body of Christ to be His corporate expression.
B. In Ephesians 3 Paul uses the Greek word oikonomia with two denotations:
1. In relation to God, this word denotes God's economy—v. 9.
2. In relation to the apostle, this word denotes the stewardship—"the stewardship of the grace of God"—v. 2:
a. This stewardship is the dispensing service of God's economy.
b. The stewardship of grace is the ministry to distribute, to dispense, the unsearchable riches of Christ to the believers as grace for their enjoyment.
C. The apostles (and all believers) are "stewards of the mysteries of God"—1 Cor. 4:1:
1. The Greek word for steward is of the same root as the word for economy.
2. The Greek word means "a dispensing steward," "a household administrator, who dispenses the household supply to its members."
3. The apostles were appointed by the Lrod to be such stewards, dispensing God's mysteries—Christ as the mystery of God and the church as the mystery of Christ—Col. 2:2; Eph. 3:4.
4. In the stewardship, the dispensing ministry, "it is sought in stewards that one be found faithful"—1 Cor. 4:2.
VI. God's economy is like a great wheel, having Christ as its center—Ezek. 1:15-21:
A. The hub of this wheel signifies Christ as the center of God's economy.
B. The rim signifies Christ's counterpart, the church, the Body of Christ.
C. The believers as the many members of Christ are the spokes of the hub spreading to the rim, to the Body of Christ, which consummates the New Jerusalem.
D. This great wheet is not only the economy of God, but also the moving of the economy of God:
1. From Genesis 1 until the present, the move of God's economy has never stopped, and today this great wheel has reached us.
2. In every age and in every generation, this wheel has been moving, and now we are a part of the move of the great wheel of God's economy.
